Sunglasses Trends for Summer 2024

With the warmer weather arriving, that means new sunglasses trends for summer 2024. This year, new trends mix with the established ones to create a unique blend of choices for the consumer. What follows are some of the more prominent trends in fashion sunglasses for this year.

Cat Eye
Perhaps the most retro of all trends in sunglasses for this year is the classic cat’s eye. Created back in the 1920s, cat’s-eye sunglasses use the pointed, teardrop shape to create a unique look that works with most faces.

They especially work with angular faces with sharp lines to create a powerful statement. While the trend itself is a century old, it still feels new and fresh. It’s little wonder that the cat eye is one of the leading trends in sunglasses today.

Giant Lenses
It seems that trends come back into vogue every twenty years or so and giant lenses are no different. What was popular in the 2000s is now popular again, thanks to the stylized appearance of big, baby-blue lenses that are black-lined and cover a big part of the face.
The Olsen Twins and Paris Hilton made these types of sunglasses popular back in the day and that day has come again. What’s interesting is that given other trends of smaller, sleeker sunglasses, the return of the giant lenses seems only more appropriate.

Playful
This recent trend covers a wide range of sunglasses, but for the most part they are funny and exotic in appearance. The goal is to create a light mood, particularly with a wide color range that goes from yellow to green to red and more. Beaded frames or frameless in tinted heart shapes, creativity is the order of the day with playful sunglasses.

Retro Metal
Although metal-rimmed sunglasses may evoke a futuristic feeling, these are a retro design. A hot Hollywood trend in the 90s, metal-rimmed sunglasses offer the cool, slick appearance that many go for when they venture under the sun.
You can choose from slick silver to warm gold or a mixture of metals to create a unique look. Plus, metal rimmed sunglasses go well with most jewelry, which is why they are a hot trend once again.

Rimless Futuristic
This type of rimless, one-piece sunglasses may look like they are straight out of a science fiction movie, but they have been gaining traction over the past few years. Quite futuristic in appearance, there is also something retro about them given their presence in Hollywood films about future events.
The sunglasses are not only unique, but also quite practical given that they provide full protection for the eyes thanks to their wraparound feature. This means that the sensitive skin on either side of your eyes is better protected. While rimless futuristic sunglasses are not for everyone, they are perfect for younger people looking to make a statement.

Tortoise Shell
These classic, timeless sunglasses are making a comeback. Whether you choose the colorful frames or the slick-black versions, it is the classic finish that makes these sunglasses so distinctive and popular. It is the retro and timeless nature of the tortoise shell look that makes this type of sunglasses so desirable.
